Press Releases

Menu Location: Settings > Content > Press Releases

Last Updated: 2026-10-02

Overview

Press Releases lets you publish your own news and announcements on your site. Each release is written and managed at admin-edit.php?table=press_releases; published releases appear on your public /press-releases/ page and in an RSS feed that journalists and partners can subscribe to.

This feature is off by default and is turned on per site. It is separate from the media-mentions press page (Media Mentions), which tracks coverage about you in other publications; Press Releases is content you write.

Primary Functions:

  • Write, edit, publish, and delete press releases
  • Publish releases to a public /press-releases/ page with an RSS feed
  • Draft releases privately, then publish when ready
  • Soft-delete (Trash) releases and restore them later

Turning the Feature On

Press Releases is not visible to the public until you enable it.

  1. Go to Settings > Content > Press Releases.
  2. At the top of the page, click the red Page is OFF button.
  3. The button turns green and reads Page is ON. A "Press" link now appears in your site navigation, and /press-releases/ serves to the public.

Click the green Page is ON button at any time to turn the feature back off.

The first time it is turned on, an editable "Press & Media" landing page is created for you in the page builder (a hero, an intro, and the list of your releases). You can customize that page under Settings > Content > Page Builder.

The Release List

The list shows your releases, newest first, with columns for ID, Title, Slug, Status, and Created date.

  • Show Trash - click to see deleted (trashed) releases instead of active ones. Click View Active to go back.
  • Delete - a release is not permanently removed; it is moved to Trash and can be restored.
  • Restore - bring a trashed release back as a draft.

Fields

Field Description
title The headline of the release
slug URL-friendly name; the release is served at /press-releases/<slug>
status Draft, Published, or Trash
text The full body of the release
created_at When the release was created (also the displayed publish date)
updated_at When the release was last edited

Status meanings

  • Draft - saved privately. Not shown to the public and not in the RSS feed.
  • Published - live on the /press-releases/ page, on its own page, and in the RSS feed.
  • Trash - soft-deleted. Hidden from the public and from the active list, but restorable.

While logged in as an admin, you can preview a draft by visiting its direct URL. Public visitors only ever see published releases.

The Public Page and RSS Feed

  • Landing page - /press-releases/ lists your published releases.
  • Single release - /press-releases/<slug> shows one release in full.
  • RSS feed - /press-releases/feed.xml is an RSS 2.0 feed of your published releases (up to the 50 most recent). Feed readers and email tools can subscribe to it.

The store's blog also offers an RSS feed at /blog/feed.xml.

Common Use Cases

  • Announce a new product or service - write a release, set it to Published, and link to it from your social channels.
  • Get listed in aggregators - give press-releases/feed.xml to a feed reader or marketing tool that syndicates your news.
  • Prepare ahead of time - keep releases in Draft, then flip them to Published on the day.

Troubleshooting

The Press link is missing from my site navigation. The feature is off. Go to Settings > Content > Press Releases and click Page is OFF to turn it on.

Visitors see the homepage when they go to /press-releases/. That means the feature is off (or the release is not found). Confirm the green Page is ON button is showing on the Press Releases admin page.

My release does not appear on the public page or in the feed. Check its status. Only releases with the Published status are public; Draft and Trash releases are not.

I deleted a release by mistake. Click Show Trash on the list, find it, and click Restore. It comes back as a draft, so publish it again when ready.
