AI Business Info¶
Menu Location: Settings > AI Business Info
Overview¶
AI Business Info is where you describe your business in the words AI should use. The fields on this page are the source AI features read when they write content and promotions, and they publish to your store's llms.txt file, so AI assistants (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini) describe and recommend your store accurately.
These fields previously lived in Business Settings. They now have their own page, reached from Settings > AI Business Info (Business Settings links to it in the section where they used to be).
Primary Functions:
- Write the Business Description AI uses to describe your store
- Set product focus, audience, brand voice, business type, and business size
- Pick an AI Photo Style for generated images
- Fill every field at once, or regenerate just one field, with AI
Page Layout¶
The page shows a short intro about llms.txt at the top, then a card of fields, with a Save AI Business Info button at the top right and the bottom right. Each field has a small AI button beside its label. Below the fields is the AI Surfaces & Tools panel.
Fields¶
Business Description:
- A plain-English summary of what your business is and does. Not your business hours.
- Maximum length is 1000 characters; around 370 is recommended.
- Used by AI features and published in your site's
llms.txt.
AI Photo Style:
- The style applied to images generated by AI features.
- Chosen from a dropdown of available styles.
Product Focus:
- What you sell, in a few words (for example, locally-sourced produce).
Audience:
- Who you sell to (for example, busy families and health-conscious shoppers).
Brand Voice:
- The tone AI should write in (for example, friendly, helpful, and slightly cheeky).
Business Type:
- A description of the business model, such as ecommerce home delivery of subscription produce boxes with add-ons available.
Business Size:
- Describes the scale of the business, such as small, medium, or mom and pop.
AI Surfaces & Tools¶
Below the fields is an AI Surfaces & Tools panel listing the machine-readable surfaces your store already publishes for AI assistants and search engines. All of them are on automatically; this panel is where you view and test them. Click View to open a surface in a new tab, or Test to fetch it and show the live response on the page.
llms.txt:
- A plain-text guide that tells AI who you are, where you deliver, and your box types. Built from the fields on this page.
- An emerging standard we adopted early. Refreshes from your store's data at most once a day.
robots.txt:
- Explicitly welcomes the major AI crawlers (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, Google-Extended and others) and points them at your sitemap and
llms.txt.
Delivery Coverage API:
- A read-only JSON endpoint at
yoursite.com/ai/delivery-check. Given a ZIP, it answers whether you deliver there, which day, the next order cutoff, and your order minimum. - Type a ZIP and click Check ZIP, or click Store summary (no ZIP) for the store-wide version (your delivery days with their next cutoffs).
- Below the input are sample ZIPs taken from your own ZIP code list. Green buttons are in your delivery area, plain ones are not. Click one to test it, or use Manage your ZIP codes to edit that list.
Structured data (JSON-LD):
- Every page carries Schema.org data search engines and AI read directly: your business identity and service area, on-site search, products with price, availability and dietary suitability, category breadcrumbs, and your FAQs. There is nothing to configure.
- Test with Google Rich Results checks your homepage with Google's validator, Test site search runs a sample product search on your store, and View your homepage opens your storefront.
Your store also publishes two surfaces that agents and search engines read on their own:
Agent guide (agents.md):
- A step-by-step operational guide for an AI assistant acting on a customer's behalf, published at
yoursite.com/agents.md(and/.well-known/agents.md). - It walks the agent through your real flow: check delivery, pick a box, sign up, then customize and add on. It also tells the agent to re-check the Delivery Coverage API rather than assume you deliver somewhere.
- The guide is explicit that signing up and checking out still happen with a person, so the agent guides the shopper through the store rather than transacting for them.
Catalog feed (/ai/catalog.json and /ai/catalog.xml):
- A read-only list of what your store sells, with current price, sale price, availability, image, and product link.
/ai/catalog.jsonis the agent-native JSON;/ai/catalog.xmlis a Google Merchant (RSS 2.0) feed for Google Shopping and comparison engines.- If a product has a Product Video URL set on its edit page (Products > Add Product), the XML feed includes it as the
video_linkattribute for Google Shopping. - Box stores lead with the boxes a new customer signs up for; add
?type=productsto the feed URL to list your add-on products instead. Non-box stores list products.
Neither needs any setup, they refresh from your live boxes and products automatically.
Regenerating Fields With AI¶
Regenerate One Field¶
Use the small AI button next to a field's label to have AI rewrite just that field from your website content, leaving the other fields as they are. The field fills in when the request finishes; review it, then save.
Auto Create (All Fields)¶
Steps:
- Click Auto Create! at the top right of the card.
- Confirm the prompt ("Yes, Auto Create!").
- The system reads the visible text of your front page, About Us page, and How It Works page.
- AI writes back the Business Description plus product focus, audience, brand voice, business type, and business size.
- Review and edit the generated text, then save.
Note: Auto Create overwrites the existing values in every one of these fields.
The Business Description is also regenerated on its own in the background: when it is missing, still the placeholder default, or judged by AI to be junk (business hours, an address, a single word), the platform rebuilds it from your live site during a software update. A good hand-written description is left alone.
Common Use Cases¶
A new store:
- Go to Settings > AI Business Info.
- Click Auto Create! and confirm.
- Review each field, correct anything that reads wrong, and save.
Sharpening one field:
- Click the AI button next to the field (for example, Brand Voice).
- Review the generated value, edit it if needed, and save.
Checking what AI sees:
- Open
yoursite.com/llms.txtin a browser. - If anything reads wrong, fix the matching field on this page and save. The file refreshes from your store's data at most once a day.
Troubleshooting¶
AI button does nothing or shows "AI request failed":
The request could not reach the AI service. Try again in a moment.
"AI could not generate a value, try again":
The AI returned nothing usable for that field. Try again, or type the value by hand.
Auto Create changed fields I liked:
Auto Create overwrites every field on the page. Use the per-field AI buttons instead when you only want to redo one.
Changes are not showing in llms.txt:
The file is rebuilt from your store's data at most once a day. Give it a day.
Change Log¶
2026-10-14¶
- The Google Merchant
catalog.xmlfeed now carries a product's Product Video URL as thevideo_linkattribute when you set one on the product edit page.
2026-10-02¶
- Documented two surfaces your store now publishes for AI shopping agents: the agent guide (
/agents.md, also at/.well-known/agents.md) and the machine-readable catalog feed (/ai/catalog.jsonand the Google Merchant/ai/catalog.xml). Both are automatic. - Clarified the framing: agents can read your boxes, prices and delivery and guide a shopper, but signing up and checking out still happen with a person.
2026-09-30¶
- The App Welcome Tagline field moved off this page to Mobile App (Settings > Mobile App), on the App welcome tab, where it is edited and approved with the rest of the app store listing.
2026-09-24¶
- Added the AI Business Info page (Settings > AI Business Info). The Business Description, Product Focus, Audience, Brand Voice, Business Type, Business Size, AI Photo Style, and App Welcome Tagline fields moved here from Business Settings, which now links to this page. Business Settings no longer shows its own Auto Create! link.
- Added a per-field AI button beside each field so a single value can be regenerated from your website without overwriting the others.
- Added the App Welcome Tagline field, the short line shown on the mobile app welcome screen.
- Added the AI Surfaces & Tools panel below the fields, with live testers for
llms.txt,robots.txt, the new Delivery Coverage API (/ai/delivery-check, with sample ZIPs drawn from your own ZIP code list), and the store-wide structured data. Saving this page now refreshes the structured data immediately instead of after a day.
