Holiday Features¶

Overview¶

The Holiday Features page is home base for the seasonal features built into your store. It shows you what holiday features exist, whether each one is set up for the coming holiday season, and how it will appear to customers. More holiday features will be added to this page over time.

Today the page covers the four seasonal gift card promotions. It is a read-only status view, you schedule the actual promotions on the Gift Card Promotions page using the Schedule Promotions button at the top, or the Create Holiday Deals button there, which sets up all four at once.

Primary Features¶

Holiday Promotions status table¶

A table lists each holiday feature with a short description, the date it runs in the current (or next) holiday season, and its status:

Black Friday - 30% off gift cards during a short Black Friday window (7am-11am by default)
Small Business Saturday - 20% off gift cards all day
Cyber Monday - 10% off gift cards all day
December Gift Card Bonus - bonus gift card credit through December (buy $50 get $10, buy $100 get $20, buy $150 get $40)

Each row's status is one of:

Live now - a matching promotion is active right now
Scheduled - a matching promotion is set up for its date but has not started yet
Not scheduled - no promotion is set up for this feature's date window

A Set up button on each row takes you to the Gift Card Promotions page to schedule that promotion. The dates shown are calculated from the coming holiday season (the next season's dates are used once the current year's December arrives), and match the dates the Create Holiday Deals button generates.

How banners appear on your storefront¶

If your home page does not use the Page Builder, promotion banners appear automatically on your storefront home page while a promotion is active, then disappear when it ends. You do not need to place anything, just schedule the promotions and they will show up on their dates.
If your home page uses the Page Builder, these banners do not appear on their own. Instead, add the Gift Card Promotions block (in the Promotional category) to any page in the Page Builder, wherever you want the banner to show. The block automatically displays whichever holiday promotion is active and stays hidden the rest of the year, so you can place it once and leave it.

The page shows a notice telling you which situation applies to your store.

Common Use Cases¶

Confirm your holiday promotions are set up¶

Goal: Make sure Black Friday through the December bonus are scheduled before the season.

Steps:

Open Holiday Features.
Check each row's status.
For any row showing Not scheduled, click Set up, then use Create Holiday Deals on the Promotions page to generate the full set at once, or create the single promotion manually.

Goal: Show the active gift card promotion on a page builder site.

Steps:

Open the Page Builder and edit the page where you want the banner.
Add the Gift Card Promotions block from the Promotional category.
Publish. The block shows whichever promotion is active and stays hidden the rest of the year.

Troubleshooting¶

A row shows "Not scheduled" even though I created a promotion¶

The page matches promotions against the standard holiday date windows (the same dates Create Holiday Deals uses). If a promotion's start date does not land on the exact holiday day, its row will read Not scheduled even though the promotion exists. The promotion itself still runs on the dates you set; check the Gift Card Promotions page to confirm its dates.
