Overview

The Quadrant 3 Pack Manager is a dedicated tool for stores that keep a large, mostly-permanent set of grocery items in a single pack-order quadrant (Quadrant 3). It gives you a fast way to order those items the way your warehouse is laid out, group them by category, and keep that order stable, week after week, without the weekly menu regeneration shuffling the numbers around.

This is an optional feature that Kiva Logic turns on for your account. When it is on, a Q3 Pack Manager link appears under the Products menu, and the weekly regeneration no longer renumbers Quadrant 3, so your packers' printed walk-order stays put.

Primary Features

  • Category zones. Every top-level product category gets its own numbered "zone" inside Quadrant 3 (for example Meat, Dairy, Snacks). Items are grouped under their zone so the printed pack sheet reads in category order.
  • Auto-sort by category. One button groups every Quadrant 3 item under its category zone and numbers them in order. It keeps the relative order you already have within each zone, so running it again just tidies the numbers.
  • Drag to reorder or move. Drag an item up or down to reorder it, or drag it past a zone header to move it into a different zone. Changes save as you drop.
  • Bulk move. Check several items and move them all into a chosen zone at once.
  • Type a number to jump an item. Every row has an editable number. Change an item's number and click Save to reposition it, handy when one stray item is far from the rest of its group.
  • Reorder zones. The Reorder Zones link opens a dedicated page where you drag whole category zones (not individual items) into a new order, for example putting Dairy before Meat. Dropping a zone re-sorts every item in Quadrant 3 to match the new zone order.
  • Stable across regens. With this feature on, the weekly regeneration never re-numbers Quadrant 3, so the order your packers print stays consistent.

Common Use Cases

Use Case 1: First-time setup

Goal: Get all of Quadrant 3 organized into category zones.

Steps:

  1. Go to Products > Q3 Pack Manager. Before the first sort, everything shows under an "Unsorted" zone.
  2. Click Auto-sort by category.
  3. Every item is grouped under its category zone and numbered in order.
  4. Fine-tune from there by dragging or by editing individual numbers.

Use Case 2: Moving one stray item next to its group

Goal: A single item is out of place (for example, chicken drumsticks are far from the rest of the chicken).

Steps:

  1. Find the item, type a number that puts it where you want it (near the other chicken), and click Save number changes. Or drag the row up into the right zone.

Use Case 3: Moving several items to a different zone

Goal: Relocate a handful of items into another category zone at once.

Steps:

  1. Check the box on each item you want to move.
  2. Pick the destination zone from Move selected to.
  3. Click Move selected. The items are appended to the end of that zone.

Use Case 4: Re-tidying after adding new products

Goal: New grocery items were added during the week and you want them grouped cleanly.

Steps:

  1. New items land in their category's zone automatically when they hit the menu; ones that could not be placed yet show under "Unsorted."
  2. Click Auto-sort by category to fold everything back into tidy, numbered zones.

Use Case 5: Changing the order zones print in

Goal: Print Dairy before Meat instead of the current zone order.

Steps:

  1. Click Reorder Zones.
  2. Drag the Dairy zone above the Meat zone.
  3. The new order saves as you drop, and every item in Quadrant 3 is repacked to match.

Troubleshooting

Everything is under "Unsorted"

The category zones are created the first time you click Auto-sort by category. Until then, or for any item whose category has not been sorted yet, items sit in the Unsorted zone. Click Auto-sort to organize them.

An item I moved is not where I expected on the printed sheet

The printed pack sheet orders Quadrant 3 by each item's number. After a drag, bulk move, or number edit, re-check the item's number on this page; the printed sheet follows that number.

This is an optional feature enabled by Kiva Logic for stores that need it. Contact support if you would like it turned on for your account.

Recent Updates

  • 2026-08-03: Introduced the Quadrant 3 Pack Manager (drag, bulk move, type-a-number, auto-sort, and a dedicated Reorder Zones page), and stopped the weekly regeneration from renumbering Quadrant 3 when the feature is on.
