Promotion Banner

Menu Location: Customers > Promotion Banner

Overview

The Promotion Banner is the thin promotion bar that runs across the very top of every storefront page - useful for a coupon code, a limited-time offer, or a nudge to sign up.

You can set up two independent versions of the bar on one page:

  • Not logged in visitors - shown to visitors who are not logged in (great for enticing sign-ups)
  • Logged in customers - shown to customers who are logged in (great for promoting this week's shopping)

Each version is turned on or off independently, so you can run one, both, or neither.

Primary Features:

  • Two separate banners - one for logged-out visitors, one for logged-in customers
  • A layout that shows both forms at once, each with its own Save button
  • A Live preview in each section that updates as you type, so you can see exactly how the bar will look before saving
  • Per-section Status on/off toggle
  • Message, link text, and link URL for each banner
  • Text color and Bar Background color pickers for each banner

Where Customers See It

The Promotion Banner appears at the very top of every storefront page. Which version shows depends on whether the viewer is logged in: logged-out visitors see the "Not logged in visitors" bar, and logged-in customers see the "Logged in customers" bar.

This is different from Lifestyle Banners, which are the full-width rows that appear inside the shop (between the shoppable rows on the Welcome page).

Setting Up the Banner

Both banners are edited on the same page (Customers > Promotion Banner).

Not logged in visitors (and Logged in customers)

Each section has the same fields. The Not logged in visitors section uses one set of settings and the Logged in customers section uses an independent set with the same fields:

  • Live preview - a sample bar that updates live as you change any field below it, reflecting your message, link, and colors
  • Status - On to show this bar, Off to hide it
  • Message - the text in the bar. Keep it short, e.g. "sign up today and receive $20 off your first delivery!"
  • Link Text - the wording of the clickable button in the bar (leave blank for no button)
  • Link URL - where the button links to, e.g. your sign-up page
  • Text color - color of the bar's text (and the button's background)
  • Bar Background color - the bar's background color

A Save button sits at the bottom of each section. Either Save button saves the whole form, so both banners are written together - if you have edited both sections, one Save captures all of it.

After saving, a confirmation appears. Because the logged-out bar is only visible to visitors who are not logged in, the message reminds you to log out and view the front page (or use another browser where you are not logged in) to see it.

Common Use Cases

Promote a coupon to new visitors

Set the Not logged in visitors bar to On, type the offer in Message, and put your sign-up page in Link URL so the bar's button drives visitors to register.

Give logged-in customers a weekly nudge

Set the Logged in customers bar to On with a message pointing at this week's shop, and link the button to the shop or a featured category.

Turn a bar off without losing its settings

Set that section's Status to Off. The message, link, and colors are kept, so you can switch it back on later.

Match the bar to your branding

Use the Text color and Bar Background color pickers and watch the Live preview update until the bar looks right.

Troubleshooting

The logged-out banner isn't showing

By design, the "Not logged in visitors" bar only appears to visitors who are not logged in. Log out (or open a private window) and load the front page to see it. Also confirm its Status is set to On.

The banner still shows an old message

Make sure you clicked a Save button, and refresh the storefront - the bar can be cached in the browser.

I only want the bar for logged-in customers

Set the "Not logged in visitors" section's Status to Off and the "Logged in customers" section's Status to On.

  • Lifestyle Banners - the full-width banners that appear inside the shop between the shoppable rows on the Welcome page
