Overview

The Printed Messages by Route page manages custom messages that appear on packing slips for specific delivery routes or geographic areas. These location-specific messages communicate route changes, driver information, local events, or area-specific instructions to customers on particular routes.

Primary Functions:

  • Create route-specific packing slip messages
  • Communicate delivery schedule changes to route customers
  • Provide driver contact information
  • Alert customers to local service updates
  • Target geographic promotions or events
  • Schedule temporary route-specific messages

Common Use Cases

Use Case 1: Route Driver Introduction

Goal: Introduce new driver to route customers

Steps:

  1. Select route: "Route 5"
  2. Create message: "Meet Your New Driver!"
  3. Text: "Please welcome Marcus, your new delivery driver! Marcus has been with us 3 years and looks forward to serving you. His cell: 555-1234 for delivery day questions."
  4. Duration: First month with new driver
  5. Save

Use Case 2: Temporary Route Schedule Change

Goal: Notify customers of one-time delivery change

Steps:

  1. Select affected route(s)
  2. Create message: "Delivery Schedule Update"
  3. Text: "Due to holiday, your delivery this week will be ONE DAY EARLY (Thursday instead of Friday). Please have cooler accessible."
  4. Set date: This week only
  5. Priority: High (time-sensitive)
  6. Save

Use Case 3: Geographic Promotion

Goal: Target promotion to specific area

Steps:

  1. Select routes serving target zip codes
  2. Create message: "Local Event Special"
  3. Text: "We're sponsoring the Neighborhood Farmers Market this Saturday! Visit our booth for free samples. Use code NEIGHBOR10 for 10% off next order."
  4. Set dates: Week of event
  5. Track promo code usage by route

Use Case 4: Construction or Access Alert

Goal: Warn drivers and customers about access issues

Steps:

  1. Select affected route
  2. Create message: "Delivery Access Notice"
  3. Text: "Main Street is under construction. Deliveries may be 30-60 minutes later than usual. Driver will call if unable to access your building. Thank you for patience!"
  4. Duration: Construction period
  5. Update regularly
