Common Use Cases

Use Case 1: Create New Delivery Zone

Draw polygon around neighborhood to define Zone A for Monday deliveries.

Use Case 2: Expand Service Area

Extend existing zone boundary to include newly developed area.

Use Case 3: Split Route

Divide large route into two zones for better driver efficiency.

Use Case 4: Seasonal Zone

Create temporary zone for holiday season, deactivate after.

Use Case 5: Multi-Day Routing

Draw overlapping zones - same area served Monday OR Wednesday based on customer choice.

Best Practices

  1. Follow natural boundaries - Use highways, rivers, major streets as zone edges
  2. Avoid gaps - Ensure complete coverage with no unserviced areas
  3. Test assignments - Enter test addresses to verify zone detection
  4. Name clearly - Descriptive names like "Downtown Monday" vs. "Zone 1"
  5. Color code - Use different colors per delivery day

FAQs

Can zones overlap?

Yes! Useful for multi-day routing - same address can be in Monday zone AND Wednesday zone.

How are overlapping zones resolved?

Depends on configuration - may use priority, customer preference, or day of week.

Do I still need ZIP code assignments?

No, map zones replace ZIP-based routing. Addresses assigned to zones automatically based on geographic location.

Can I export zone data?

Depends on system version. Contact Kiva Logic for export options.
