Overview

Delivery Windows allow customers to select preferred delivery time slots. Configure available time windows, set capacity limits, and manage delivery schedules.

Primary Functions:

  • Create delivery time windows
  • Set capacity limits per window
  • Assign windows to routes
  • Allow customer time selection
  • Manage window availability

Window Configuration

Creating Delivery Windows

Fields:

  • Window Name: Time slot identifier (e.g., "Morning 8-12")
  • Start Time: Window begins
  • End Time: Window ends
  • Capacity: Maximum deliveries
  • Routes: Which routes offer this window
  • Active: Currently available

Common Windows:

  • Early Morning (6-9am)
  • Morning (8-12pm)
  • Afternoon (12-4pm)
  • Evening (4-8pm)
  • All Day (flexible)

Route Assignment

Linking Windows to Routes

Configuration:

  1. Create delivery window
  2. Select applicable routes
  3. Set capacity per route
  4. Save window

Result:

  • Customers on selected routes see window option
  • Other routes don't have access
  • Capacity tracked per route

Customer Selection

How Customers Choose Windows

During Signup or Editing Subscription:

  1. Customer selects delivery day (determines route)
  2. System shows available windows for that route
  3. Customer selects preferred window
  4. Choice saved to subscription

Managing Customer Windows

Admin Side:

  • View customer's selected window in subscription
  • Change window if needed
  • Override for specific delivery

Capacity Management

Window Capacity Limits

Set Limits:

  • Maximum orders per window
  • Prevents overloading time slots
  • Balances driver workload

When Capacity Reached:

  • Window shows as "Full"
  • Customers select alternative
  • Can override administratively

Common Use Cases

Use Case 1: Create Morning Window

Goal: Add morning delivery option

Steps:

  1. Go to Settings > Delivery Windows
  2. Click "Add New"
  3. Name: "Morning Delivery"
  4. Start: 8:00 AM
  5. End: 12:00 PM
  6. Capacity: 50 per route
  7. Select applicable routes
  8. Active: Yes
  9. Save window

Use Case 2: Seasonal Capacity Adjustment

Goal: Increase capacity for holiday season

Steps:

  1. Edit delivery windows
  2. Increase capacity values
  3. Save changes
  4. After holiday, restore normal capacity

Troubleshooting

Window Not Showing for Customer

  • Check route has window assigned
  • Verify window is Active
  • Check capacity not exceeded
  • Confirm customer on correct route

Too Many Orders in Window

  • Review capacity settings
  • Check for administrative overrides
  • Adjust limits as needed
  • Routes - Window availability by route
  • Subscriptions - Customer window selection
  • Orders - Delivery window assignments
