Overview

Monthly Special allows you to create and display time-limited promotional offers on your website. These featured promotions appear prominently to encourage customers to try new products or take advantage of seasonal deals.

Primary Functions:

  • Create limited-time product promotions
  • Display featured offers on website homepage
  • Set promotion start and end dates
  • Control promotional content and pricing
  • Track promotion performance
  • Seasonal and event-based marketing

Page Layout

  • Add New Record: Create new monthly special
  • Table Columns:
  • ID
  • Special Title
  • Description
  • Product(s) Featured
  • Special Price
  • Start Date
  • End Date
  • Status (Active/Inactive)
  • Actions (Edit, Delete)

Creating Monthly Specials

Fields

Special Title:

  • Display name (e.g., "February Hearts & Steaks Special")
  • Shows as heading on website

Description:

  • Promotional copy explaining the offer
  • Can include HTML formatting
  • Appears below title on website

Product(s):

  • Select product(s) included in promotion
  • Can feature single product or bundle

Special Price:

  • Promotional discount price
  • Shown prominently to customers

Start Date:

  • When promotion becomes visible
  • Automatically shows on this date

End Date:

  • When promotion ends
  • Automatically hides after this date

Status:

  • Active: Promotion visible (if within date range)
  • Inactive: Hidden even if within dates

Use Case 1: Valentine's Day Promotion

Goal: Feature special couples package for Valentine's

Steps:

  1. Create new monthly special
  2. Title: "Valentine's Day - Date Night Bundle"
  3. Description: "Romantic dinner for two with premium steaks and dessert"
  4. Select products: Ribeye steaks, chocolate dessert
  5. Special Price: $89.99 (regular $109)
  6. Start: Feb 1
  7. End: Feb 14
  8. Status: Active
  9. Save

Result: Valentine's promotion displays Feb 1-14

Use Case 2: Summer BBQ Sale

Goal: Promote grilling products June-August

Steps:

  1. Title: "Summer BBQ Pack"
  2. Description: "Everything you need for the perfect cookout"
  3. Select: Burger patties, hot dogs, BBQ pack
  4. Special Price: $75
  5. Start: June 1
  6. End: August 31
  7. Active

Use Case 3: New Product Launch

Goal: Introduce new product with introductory pricing

Steps:

  1. Title: "NEW! Wild-Caught Salmon - Launch Special"
  2. Description: "Try our new Alaskan salmon at special intro price"
  3. Product: Wild-Caught Salmon
  4. Special Price: $19.99 (regular $24.99)
  5. Start: Today
  6. End: 30 days from now
  7. Active

Use Case 4: Inventory Clearance

Goal: Move seasonal inventory before new stock arrives

Steps:

  1. Title: "Season-End Clearance"
  2. Description: "Limited quantities - get them before they're gone!"
  3. Products: Items being cleared
  4. Special Price: 30% off
  5. Start: Immediately
  6. End: When sold out (or set far future date)
  7. Active

Use Case 5: Remove Expired Promotion

Goal: Take down last month's special

Steps:

  1. Find previous month's special in list
  2. Option A: Change status to "Inactive"
  3. Option B: Delete record entirely
  4. Promotion no longer displays on website

Troubleshooting

Promotion Not Showing on Website

  • Check status is "Active"
  • Verify current date is between start and end dates
  • Clear browser cache
  • Check you're viewing public site (not admin area)

Wrong Promotion Displaying

  • Verify dates don't overlap with other promotions
  • Check multiple specials aren't active simultaneously
  • Review which has most recent start date

Best Practices

  1. Plan ahead - Schedule promotions in advance
  2. Clear copy - Compelling descriptions sell the special
  3. Limit duration - Create urgency with end dates
  4. Track results - Monitor sales during promotion period
  5. Update regularly - Fresh offers keep customers engaged
  6. Remove promptly - Deactivate when promotion ends

Can I have multiple specials at once?

System typically shows most recent active special. Check with Kiva Logic about displaying multiple simultaneously.

Do special prices apply automatically at checkout?

Depends on system configuration. May display as information only, or auto-apply discount. Consult with Kiva Logic.

Can customers still buy products at regular price?

Yes, monthly special is promotional display. Products still available at regular prices in shop.

How do I know if promotion is working?

Monitor sales of featured products during promotion period. Compare to baseline sales from before promotion.
