Understanding Recurring Products

How Recurring Works

  • Customers set up recurring products on their account
  • System automatically attempts to add them to each order
  • If successful: product appears on order
  • If conflict: product doesn't add, conflict recorded

Common Conflict Reasons

  • Product out of stock
  • Product discontinued
  • Product not available for customer's box type
  • Product not on this week's menu
  • Inventory allocation issues

Fulfillment Timing

  • Recurring products process when weekly orders generate
  • Conflicts appear immediately when orders are created
  • Check Monday mornings for new week's conflicts

Troubleshooting

Issue: No Conflicts Showing

This May Be Normal:

  • No conflicts this week (all recurring processed successfully)
  • Haven't generated orders for the week yet

Check:

  1. Verify week selection (if applicable)
  2. Confirm orders have been generated
  3. Check Fulfillment Summary for success confirmations

Issue: Many Conflicts Appearing

Common Causes:

  • Product discontinued but customers still have it as recurring
  • Inventory shortage
  • Menu changes removed popular recurring items

Solutions:

  1. Review conflict reasons
  2. Contact affected customers
  3. Restock products if possible
  4. Update product availability

Best Practices

Weekly Workflow

  1. Monday Morning: Check conflicts immediately
  2. Resolve Conflicts: Fix inventory or contact customers
  3. Wednesday: Re-check fulfillment summary
  4. Friday: Export subscriptions for next week planning

Monitoring

  1. Set up weekly reminder to check conflicts
  2. Track conflict patterns month-over-month
  3. Proactively stock high-recurring products
  4. Communicate menu changes affecting recurring items

Things to Avoid

  • ❌ Ignoring conflict reports (customers expect their items)
  • ❌ Waiting until Friday to check conflicts (too late to fix)
  • ❌ Not updating customers when their recurring items can't be fulfilled
  • ❌ Discontinuing products without checking recurring subscriptions
