Overview

The Product Bundles page allows you to create and manage product bundles - collections of multiple products sold together as a single package, often at a discounted price. Bundles are perfect for meal kits, gift baskets, variety packs, and curated collections.

Primary Functions:

  • Create product bundles combining multiple items
  • Set bundle pricing (discount from individual prices)
  • Manage bundle inventory and availability
  • Track bundle sales performance
  • Configure bundle display and marketing
  • Handle bundle substitutions and variations

Creating Product Bundles

Basic Bundle Creation

Steps:

  1. Click "Create New Bundle" button
  2. Enter bundle name (e.g., "Family Meal Kit", "Grill Master Pack")
  3. Enter bundle SKU (auto-generated or custom)
  4. Add description (appears to customers)
  5. Select category/classification
  6. Upload bundle image (shows in store)
  7. Click "Save & Continue"

Adding Products to Bundle

Steps:

  1. In bundle editor, click "Add Product"
  2. Search for product by name or SKU
  3. Select product from results
  4. Set quantity (e.g., 2x Chicken Breast, 1x BBQ Sauce)
  5. Optional: Mark as substitutable
  6. Repeat for all products in bundle
  7. Review product list
  8. Click "Save Products"

Bundle Composition Tips:

  • Include 3-8 products for optimal value perception
  • Mix product types for variety
  • Consider complementary products (proteins + sauces + sides)
  • Balance high-value with lower-cost items

Setting Bundle Pricing

Pricing Strategies:

Fixed Price:

  • Set specific bundle price (e.g., $49.99)
  • System shows savings vs. individual prices
  • Best for standardized offerings

Percentage Discount:

  • Set discount percentage (e.g., 15% off total)
  • Bundle price auto-calculates
  • Updates when product prices change
  • Best for dynamic pricing

Steps:

  1. Scroll to Pricing section
  2. View "Individual Products Total" (sum of all items)
  3. Choose pricing method:
    • Fixed Price: Enter bundle price directly
    • Percentage Discount: Enter discount percentage
  4. System displays savings amount
  5. Click "Save Pricing"

  • Individual Products Total: $65.00
  • Bundle Price: $49.99 (23% off)

Managing Bundle Inventory

Inventory Calculation Methods

Component-Based (Recommended):

  • Bundle availability based on component inventory
  • If any component out of stock, bundle unavailable
  • Most accurate, prevents overselling

Independent Inventory:

  • Track bundle inventory separately
  • Pre-pack bundles, track as single SKU
  • Best for pre-assembled bundles

Hybrid:

  • Some components tracked, some not
  • Useful for bundles with one limited item

Setting Inventory Method

Steps:

  1. Edit bundle
  2. Navigate to Inventory section
  3. Select inventory method:
    • Component-Based: Auto-calculate from ingredients
    • Fixed Quantity: Set specific bundle inventory count
  4. If fixed quantity, enter available count
  5. Set low stock alert threshold
  6. Click "Save Inventory Settings"

Handling Out-of-Stock Components

Options:

  • Make Bundle Unavailable: Hide bundle when component out
  • Allow Substitutions: Replace missing item with alternative
  • Partial Bundle: Sell without missing component at adjusted price

Substitution Setup:

  1. Edit bundle
  2. Find product in component list
  3. Check "Allow Substitution"
  4. Add approved substitute products
  5. Set substitution rules (automatic or admin approval)
  6. Save changes

Customer-Facing Display

Bundle Page Elements:

  • Bundle name and hero image
  • Description and benefits
  • List of included products (with images)

Configuring Display

Steps:

  1. Edit bundle
  2. Navigate to Display Settings
  3. Set options:
    • Show Individual Prices: Display each item's price
    • Highlight Savings: Emphasize discount
    • Featured Bundle: Show on homepage
    • Limited Time Offer: Add urgency banner
    • Badge: "Best Value", "Customer Favorite", etc.
  4. Upload high-quality bundle image (1200x800px recommended)
  5. Write compelling description focusing on benefits
  6. Add tags for searchability
  7. Preview customer view
  8. Click "Save Display Settings"

Homepage Featured Bundles:

  • Select bundles to feature on homepage
  • Rotate seasonally or based on performance
  • Limit to 3-4 bundles to avoid choice paralysis

Cross-Selling:

  • Suggest bundles when customer views component products
  • Example: Customer viewing chicken sees "Grilling Bundle"

Bundle Variations

Creating Multiple Bundle Sizes

Example: Meal Kit in 2-person and 4-person sizes

Steps:

  1. Create base bundle (2-person)
  2. Click "Duplicate"
  3. Rename to "4-Person Meal Kit"
  4. Double quantities of all products
  5. Adjust pricing appropriately
  6. Link bundles as variations
  7. Customer sees size selector on product page

Steps:

  1. Review bundles list
  2. Sort by sales count (last 90 days)
  3. Identify top performers:
    • High sales count
    • Good profit margins

    • Low/no sales

    • Negative feedback
  5. Actions:
    • Top performers: Create variations, increase marketing

Goal: Offer recurring bundle subscription

Steps:

  1. Create bundle: "Weekly Meal Prep Bundle"
  2. Add 7 meals worth of ingredients

  5. Configure subscription options:
    • Weekly delivery

Troubleshooting

Bundle Shows Out of Stock But Components Available

  1. Verify inventory calculation method
