Overview¶
The Product Bundles page allows you to create and manage product bundles - collections of multiple products sold together as a single package, often at a discounted price. Bundles are perfect for meal kits, gift baskets, variety packs, and curated collections.
Primary Functions:
- Create product bundles combining multiple items
- Set bundle pricing (discount from individual prices)
- Manage bundle inventory and availability
- Track bundle sales performance
- Configure bundle display and marketing
- Handle bundle substitutions and variations

- Create New Bundle Button: Launch bundle builder
- Search Bar: Find bundles by name or SKU

Creating Product Bundles¶
Basic Bundle Creation¶
Steps:
- Click "Create New Bundle" button
- Enter bundle name (e.g., "Family Meal Kit", "Grill Master Pack")
- Enter bundle SKU (auto-generated or custom)
- Add description (appears to customers)
- Select category/classification
- Upload bundle image (shows in store)
- Click "Save & Continue"
Adding Products to Bundle¶
Steps:
- In bundle editor, click "Add Product"
- Search for product by name or SKU
- Select product from results
- Set quantity (e.g., 2x Chicken Breast, 1x BBQ Sauce)
- Optional: Mark as substitutable
- Repeat for all products in bundle
- Review product list
- Click "Save Products"
Bundle Composition Tips:
- Include 3-8 products for optimal value perception
- Mix product types for variety
- Consider complementary products (proteins + sauces + sides)
- Balance high-value with lower-cost items
Setting Bundle Pricing¶
Pricing Strategies:
Fixed Price:
- Set specific bundle price (e.g., $49.99)
- System shows savings vs. individual prices
- Best for standardized offerings
Percentage Discount:
- Set discount percentage (e.g., 15% off total)
- Bundle price auto-calculates
- Updates when product prices change
- Best for dynamic pricing
Steps:
- Scroll to Pricing section
- View "Individual Products Total" (sum of all items)
- Choose pricing method:
- Fixed Price: Enter bundle price directly
- Percentage Discount: Enter discount percentage
- System displays savings amount
- Click "Save Pricing"

- Individual Products Total: $65.00
- Bundle Price: $49.99 (23% off)
- Customer Savings: $15.01
Managing Bundle Inventory¶
Inventory Calculation Methods¶
Component-Based (Recommended):
- Bundle availability based on component inventory
- If any component out of stock, bundle unavailable
- Most accurate, prevents overselling
Independent Inventory:
- Track bundle inventory separately
- Pre-pack bundles, track as single SKU
- Best for pre-assembled bundles
Hybrid:
- Some components tracked, some not
- Useful for bundles with one limited item
Setting Inventory Method¶
Steps:
- Edit bundle
- Navigate to Inventory section
- Select inventory method:
- Component-Based: Auto-calculate from ingredients
- Fixed Quantity: Set specific bundle inventory count
- If fixed quantity, enter available count
- Set low stock alert threshold
- Click "Save Inventory Settings"
Handling Out-of-Stock Components¶
Options:
- Make Bundle Unavailable: Hide bundle when component out
- Allow Substitutions: Replace missing item with alternative
- Partial Bundle: Sell without missing component at adjusted price
Substitution Setup:
- Edit bundle
- Find product in component list
- Check "Allow Substitution"
- Add approved substitute products
- Set substitution rules (automatic or admin approval)
- Save changes

Customer-Facing Display¶
Bundle Page Elements:
- Bundle name and hero image
- Description and benefits
- List of included products (with images)
- Pricing (bundle price + original total + savings)
- Add to cart button
- Bundle reviews/ratings
Configuring Display¶
Steps:
- Edit bundle
- Navigate to Display Settings
- Set options:
- Show Individual Prices: Display each item's price
- Highlight Savings: Emphasize discount
- Featured Bundle: Show on homepage
- Limited Time Offer: Add urgency banner
- Badge: "Best Value", "Customer Favorite", etc.
- Upload high-quality bundle image (1200x800px recommended)
- Write compelling description focusing on benefits
- Add tags for searchability
- Preview customer view
- Click "Save Display Settings"
Bundle Merchandising¶
Homepage Featured Bundles:
- Select bundles to feature on homepage
- Rotate seasonally or based on performance
- Limit to 3-4 bundles to avoid choice paralysis
Cross-Selling:
- Suggest bundles when customer views component products
- Example: Customer viewing chicken sees "Grilling Bundle"
Bundle Variations¶
Creating Multiple Bundle Sizes¶
Example: Meal Kit in 2-person and 4-person sizes
Steps:
- Create base bundle (2-person)
- Click "Duplicate"
- Rename to "4-Person Meal Kit"
- Double quantities of all products
- Adjust pricing appropriately
- Link bundles as variations
- Customer sees size selector on product page
Seasonal Bundle Variations¶
- Create seasonal versions of popular bundles
- Example: "Summer Grilling Bundle" vs. "Winter Comfort Bundle"
- Activate/deactivate based on season

- Click "Create New Bundle"

- SKU: FAM-DINNER-001
- Description: "Everything you need for a delicious family dinner for 4. Includes premium proteins, fresh vegetables, and our signature sauce."
- Add products:
- 2 lbs Chicken Breast
- 1 lb Brussels Sprouts
- 1 lb Baby Potatoes
- 1 Signature BBQ Sauce
- 1 Dinner Roll Pack
- Individual Total: $42.50
- Set bundle price: $34.99 (18% off)
- Upload appetizing bundle photo
- Set as "Featured Bundle"
- Activate bundle

- Find Ribeye in component list
- Add substitution: New York Strip Steak
- Set substitution to "Automatic"
- Save bundle
- Bundle becomes available again
- Customers receive NY Strip instead
- Email explains substitution and offers discount if preferred ribeye
Use Case 4: Analyze Bundle Performance¶
Goal: Determine which bundles to keep, improve, or retire
Steps:
- Review bundles list
- Sort by sales count (last 90 days)
- Identify top performers:
- High sales count
- Good profit margins
- Positive customer reviews
- Identify underperformers:
- Low/no sales
- High return rate
- Negative feedback
- Actions:
- Top performers: Create variations, increase marketing
- Medium performers: Adjust pricing, improve images, better descriptions
- Underperformers: Deactivate, reimagine, or delete
- Create new bundles based on customer purchase patterns

Goal: Offer recurring bundle subscription
Steps:
- Create bundle: "Weekly Meal Prep Bundle"
- Add 7 meals worth of ingredients
- Set competitive subscription pricing
- Mark as "Subscription Available"
- Configure subscription options:
- Weekly delivery
- Bi-weekly delivery
- Monthly delivery
- Allow customers to skip weeks
- Offer slight discount for subscription vs. one-time

Troubleshooting¶
Bundle Shows Out of Stock But Components Available¶
Check:
- Verify inventory calculation method
- Check if any component has quantity too low for bundle
- Review inventory thresholds
- Confirm bundle is marked as "Active"
Solutions:
- If component-based, verify all components have sufficient stock
- Check for hidden components or dependencies
- Temporarily switch to fixed quantity inventory
- Rebuild bundle if data corruption suspected
Bundle Pricing Not Calculating Correctly¶

- Savings shown incorrectly
- Bundle price doesn't match percentage discount
Solutions:
- Verify individual product prices are current
- Re-save bundle pricing

- Clear cache if prices not updating on site
Substitution Not Working¶
Check:
- Substitute product is active and in stock
- Substitution rules configured correctly
- Substitution feature enabled system-wide

How many products should a bundle include?¶
Sweet spot: 3-6 products for most bundles. Enough for good value, not so many it's overwhelming. Gift bundles can go higher (8-12).
What discount percentage works best?¶
Industry standards:
- Minimum: 10% (noticeable value)
- Good: 15-20% (attractive offer)
- Excellent: 25%+ (hard to resist) Test what works for your products and margins.
Should I use fixed pricing or percentage discounts?¶
- Percentage discount: Better for bundles where component prices change frequently

Yes - Transparency builds trust and highlights savings. Customers appreciate seeing:

How often should I update bundles?¶
